最熱門的留學(xué)5大專業(yè)

Over 900,000 international students came to the United States to attend college, a record number. And over a third of these students came from China.

有調(diào)查表明，超過90萬的國際生選擇去美國讀大學(xué)。而超過1/3的國際生來自中國。

?While not all students have the same motivations for moving abroad for their education, over 70% of these students are majoring in just five fields of study: Business & Management, Engineering, Social Sciences (Economics), Science, and Math & Computer Science.

雖然并非所有的學(xué)生們帶著相同的目的出國留學(xué)，但是有超過70%的學(xué)生都想主修這五門專業(yè)：商科&管理、工程、社科（經(jīng)濟）、理科、數(shù)學(xué)&計算機

This large percentage of students in these fields suggests that there is less diversity of academic interests among international students compared to students from the United States. There are various factors and personal reasons for this phenomenon. Many come to study Business to learn in a country known for its entrepreneurial spirit and a booming economy. Others study Engineering hoping it will lead to a stable, high-paying career, while some students choose to pursue Computer Science hoping to land a job in Silicon Valley.

這五個專業(yè)的學(xué)生表明，相比較于美國學(xué)生而言，國際生的學(xué)術(shù)興趣更加的集中，而這一現(xiàn)象的背后有很多個人和社會因素。很多學(xué)生想要主修商科因為美國是一個經(jīng)濟大國，另一些學(xué)生希望通過工程類的學(xué)科獲得穩(wěn)定、高薪資的工作。還有一些通過學(xué)習(xí)計算機專業(yè)可以獲得硅谷的工作機會。

While these are valid reasons to pursue these majors, the high interest from international students means that the competition is a lot more intense and the standards are higher for students who apply to these majors. They will need higher SAT scores, high GPA, and lots of good activities to be considered competitive applicants.

雖然這些都可以是主修熱門專業(yè)的原因，但同時競爭也非常激烈，錄取標(biāo)準(zhǔn)變得非常之高。通常這些專業(yè)的申請生需要更高的SAT成績，高GPA，還有很多含金量高的活動。

At our company, we also tend to find these are the top majors for our students and those with STEM or Economics majors tend to struggle with their applications more. Also, many of the students who applied in the early round for these majors were deferred due to the high level of competition. Unless you are at the top of your class, applying to these majors will be an uphill battle.

在過去的經(jīng)驗中，我們也發(fā)現(xiàn)這些熱門專業(yè)（包括STEM或者經(jīng)濟專業(yè)）對于學(xué)生的申請要求更高。由于競爭太過激烈，我們也有一些很好的學(xué)生被defer到了RD輪次。除非你具有非常強的實力，不然你將會參與一場激烈的戰(zhàn)爭。
