Edexcel考試局考試大綱中對Wave interference的要求主要圍繞下面兩個知識點：

39. know and understand what is meant by wavefront, coherence, path difference, superposition, interference and phase

知道并理解wavefront，coherent，path difference，superposition，interference和phase這幾個概念。

40. be able to use the relationship between phase difference and path difference

能夠應用phase difference和path difference之間的關系解題。

CAIE劍橋考試局對這部分的要求有四點，不過第三和第四點我們歸類到雙縫衍射。

1. understand the terms interference and coherence? 理解什么是interference和coherence

2. show an understanding of experiments that demonstrate two-source interference using water waves in a ripple tank, sound, light and microwaves? 理解波的干涉實驗

3. understand the conditions required if two-source interference fringes are to be observed 4 recall and use λ = ax /D for double-slit interference using light
