Let's carry forward the Chinese traditional culture
Let’s all follow the rabbit footprints in the Lion building to explore our "Jade Hare and the Moon"-themed Mid-Autumn festival, produced for our SUIS Hongqiao EMW stream.
As we enter the Lion building, the paper art showing the floating fairy Chang 'e and the full moon welcomes our children and teachers, dressed today in traditional costumes. Coming into the Lion building hall, the high-hanging palace lantern leads us all the way towards our ever-changing exhibition house. Today it has been magically transformed into "The Moon Palace", for children to explore the culture of the Mid-Autumn festival.
Opening the gate of the palace, the first thing you see is a variety of cute rabbit toys. These are old toys brought by the children or small models made by them in class, a powerful testimony of their ECO action. Some of the rabbits are sitting, some listening, some looking upward, as if waiting for the call of the Jade Hare or for our lovely children to celebrate this grand festival together.
Surrounded by the rabbits is today's most popular photo subject -- the super moon model. Suspended in the corner of the room, it seems brighter with the stars on the wall and with the children's happy laughter all around. Guarding the super moon is the Osmanthus tree, which was dressed up by our children. They have been writing Chinese characters, words or poems about “The Jade Hare and the Moon” onto paper leaves. They may add the Mid-Autumn festival knowledge they know or their own questions about the festival, then hang the leaves up on the tree. This has helped the students share their ideas about ‘Zhong Qiu Jie’ and learn from each other.
Walking Out of the "Moon Palace", through the bright windows of the classrooms you can see the students enjoying various Mid-Autumn festival activities, such as making moon cakes or lanterns, reciting ancient poetry and creating new poems, making Mid-Autumn greeting cards, or reusing moon cake boxes in new and creative ways.
