讓科學更有趣,將科普帶給更多的學生
As the school year comes to an end, the activities of Students’ Academy of Science also come to a short break. During the activities, the students from the Students’ Academy of Science showed their professional and skillful when giving lectures. They are speaking highly of by many teachers!

又一個學年匆匆走過,伴隨著學年尾聲的到來,如火如荼的學生科學院活動也暫時告一段落了。在整個活動中,學院學生們的專業表現備受各年級老師、領導們認可!
The Student’s Academy of Science originated in the 2017-2018 school year, when several students with interests in science, including Ivan Yuan (then in 7(2)) and Eric He (then in 7(7)), discussed and researched about scientific topics that expand on what they learned in class. The first discussions related to menstruation in animals and the relation between sleep and mental health. To assist in their understanding of these topics, the teacher guided the students to conduct research and summarize results in a short research report.
學生科學院起源于2017-2018學年,由幾個對科學感興趣的學生組成,包括當時7(2)班的Ivan Yuan和當時7(7)班的Eric He。他們對科學進行了討論和搜尋資料,以擴展他們在課堂上學到的內容和主題。前幾次討論涉及雌性哺乳動物的周期性激素變化以及睡眠和心理健康之間的關系等話題。

Later in the 2018-2019 school year, the Student’s Academy of Science expanded to include 8 members in both seventh and eighth grade. In the group, the students and teachers discussed many scientific topics, including many currently widely discussed topics. After watching the live stream of the announcement of the winner of the Nobel Prize in Physiology and Medicine, the group decided to focus on discussing cancer immunotherapy, which won the Nobel Prize. To better understand the topic, the students and teachers visited the Chinese Academy of Science to communicate with experts about cancer immunotherapy and understand how the study of cancer works by visiting the laboratory.
在2018-2019學年,學生科學院擴大到包括七年級和八年級的8位成員。在小組中,學生和老師討論了許多科學主題,包括許多目前的科學熱點。在觀看了宣布諾貝爾生理學和醫學獎得主的直播后,該小組決定專注于討論獲得諾貝爾獎的癌癥免疫療法。為了更好地理解這一主題,學生和老師訪問了中國科學院的專家,進行與癌癥免疫療法有關的討論,并參觀實驗室,了解癌癥方面的科學研究方法。

The Academy also focused on some other interesting topics! Why do people laugh when they are tickled? Why do knuckles pop? What does randomness mean? Starting from the last semester, a group of students who are passionate in science discussed these questions during lunchtime.
當然,學生科學院的學生們還關注了更多同樣有趣的話題。為什么人被撓癢會笑?為什么關節會發出吱吱的響聲?隨機過程是什么意思?從上學期開始,一群對科學知識充滿熱情的七八年級同學,利用中午的休息時間,積極探討這些問題。

After understanding the answers of these interesting questions, students thought benefitting themselves is not enough, decided that they should share this knowledge with more students, and inspire more people’s enthusiasm towards science. In their Academy activities, students chose different topics and prepared lectures for students in different grades.
同學們在了解了這些有趣的問題的答案后,認為自己受惠還不夠,還應當把這些知識傳遞給更多的同學,激發更多人對科學的熱情。在學院活動中,大家選擇了各種主題,準備為1-8年級的同學做講座。

△5thgraders! We’re sohappy tolearn about Randomness!
Preparing is busy but interesting. Students searched for related information from all access, and understood their topics more thoroughly. After coming up with answers, students started making PPT with lively and interesting form. Students practiced their speeches again and again during club time. They refined on contents of the lecture for many times, hoping to make it perfect. Students gave suggestion to each other, and learned a lot from others’ speeches. To make the lecture more effective, students designed posters for the lectures by themselves. Students poured great enthusiasm into the lectures, and revised the contents of the speech, ppt, and poster again and again. Although the process was very difficult, with the passion towards science, students were very dedicated and full of motion.
準備工作既緊張又有趣。同學們通過各種渠道搜索相關信息,對自己選擇的主題有了更全面的了解。有了答案以后,同學們開始認真地做PPT,形式活潑有趣。大家每周都在社團活動中進行一輪又一輪的試講,不斷地對PPT及講座內容進行完善,精益求精。同學們互相給出意見,并在別人的演講中學到了新的知識。為了讓講座更有效果,大家還自己動手,為講座設計了宣傳海報。同學們對講座傾注了極大的熱情,對演講內容、PPT和海報進行了一遍又一遍的修改。盡管過程很艱辛,但大家懷著對科學的熱情,始終都有動力。

After preparing for a semester, under the help of Ms. Liu, students went to different grades to make their lectures. Speeches made by members of Students’ Academy of Science are very lively and interesting, and grabbed the attention of many students. These lectures organized by students themselves received great reflection, and inspired more students’ interest in science.
同學們在劉銘老師的幫助下,經過一個學期的準備,陸續去各個年級展開科普演講。學生科學院社團成員的這些生動有趣的講座,吸引了許多同學的注意。這些由學生自發組織的科普演講大受好評,并進一步激發了同學們對科學的興趣。

In the future, the Student’s Academy of Science plan to cover more fields of science, such as physics, chemistry, and astronomy. The Student’s Academy of Science will continue to cover topics based on currently widely discussed science topics.
未來,學生科學院計劃涵蓋更多的科學領域,如物理學,化學和天文學。學生科學院將繼續討論當今科學熱點主題。
