英國(guó)本地人認(rèn)為最好的前10大學(xué)是哪些

作為一個(gè)倫敦人，我將為大家介紹我心目中的英國(guó)前10的高校。希望我的答案能夠?yàn)橄雭?lái)英國(guó)上大學(xué)的同學(xué)們提供幫助。

先拿我自己作為例子，我當(dāng)年上學(xué)的時(shí)候，申請(qǐng)的學(xué)校分別是：劍橋、UCL、布里斯托大學(xué)、杜倫大學(xué)、埃克塞特大學(xué)。

我在動(dòng)筆寫(xiě)這篇文章之前，也跟我的中國(guó)留學(xué)生朋友交流了一下，問(wèn)了問(wèn)他們?cè)谏暾?qǐng)英國(guó)的時(shí)候都申請(qǐng)了哪些學(xué)校。

中國(guó)同學(xué)在申請(qǐng)的時(shí)候，除了前五（中國(guó)學(xué)生叫 G5）外，很喜歡曼徹斯特大學(xué)、倫敦大學(xué)國(guó)王學(xué)院、愛(ài)丁堡大學(xué)，因?yàn)樗麄冋f(shuō)，這些大學(xué)是中國(guó)民間和 HR 都比較認(rèn)可的學(xué)校。

但英國(guó)民眾和企業(yè)跟中國(guó)的畢竟有很大的差別，在我們看來(lái)，有些在中國(guó)可能是冷門的學(xué)校，其實(shí)在我們心目中地位挺高，比如布里斯托大學(xué)。我周邊很多落選了劍橋或者牛津的同學(xué)，都很喜歡去這個(gè)大學(xué)。而在我當(dāng)年申請(qǐng)的過(guò)程中，“保底“的埃克塞特大學(xué)在我們心目中也有不錯(cuò)的口碑，我的私立高中里面大概有30%的同學(xué)會(huì)申請(qǐng)這個(gè)學(xué)校。

我們除了牛津劍橋以外，一般不會(huì)硬要把其他學(xué)校分出個(gè)高下，因?yàn)檫@個(gè)更多地取決于大家要讀的專業(yè)。但是既然題目要求，我就嘗試著給大家羅列一下我心目中的排行榜。

Once students start to reach around seventeen years of age, the same question is on everyone’s lips. ‘Where do you want to apply?’, ‘what are you going to study?’ or even ‘what do you see yourself doing in ten years?’.

和中國(guó)學(xué)生一樣，英國(guó)學(xué)生一到十七、十八歲，也有一個(gè)掛在嘴邊的問(wèn)題。“你準(zhǔn)備申請(qǐng)啥學(xué)校”，“你準(zhǔn)備去哪讀大學(xué)”，甚至“你未來(lái)10年有啥規(guī)劃？”.

It can be very difficult to answer these questions and to navigate the labyrinth of different universities, application processes, grade requirements, and evaluation procedures.

不僅這些問(wèn)題難以回答，如何在不同的大學(xué)、申請(qǐng)流程、分?jǐn)?shù)要求和評(píng)價(jià)程序之間做選擇也很困難。

Ultimately, I believe that deciding which universities to apply to is a personal choice that comes down to many different factors, such as the university’s location, its size, the expertise of its teachers in a particular subject or how well one can see themselves fitting in there. This article aims to provide guidance, based on the writer’s personal opinion as well as the reputation and history of different institutions, for those who are thinking of applying to UK universities but are unsure of where to start or are stuck at a crossroads and don’t know how to proceed.

最終，我覺(jué)得選校是一件很私人的事情，取決于學(xué)校位置、規(guī)模、專業(yè)師資力量、以及和自己合拍不合拍等等。這篇文章旨在給那些想申請(qǐng)英國(guó)大學(xué)，但卻感覺(jué)無(wú)從下手的同學(xué)一個(gè)大概的指導(dǎo)，評(píng)判標(biāo)準(zhǔn)基于作者的個(gè)人看法以及各個(gè)學(xué)校的歷史和聲譽(yù)。

1University of Cambridge

我的本科是在劍橋讀的，請(qǐng)?jiān)试S我“捧”一下我的母校。

There are two universities that stand out in the rankings year after year and occupy the two top spots. They are both steeped in history, being not much less than 1,000 years old, as well as academic excellence.

首先，有兩所大學(xué)是常年霸占榜首的。無(wú)論是歷史和學(xué)術(shù)聲譽(yù)都沒(méi)得說(shuō)。

These are, of course, the Universities of Cambridge and of Oxford, both of which need little introduction. There is little to choose between them but Cambridge has now occupied the top ranking in the league tables for the last nine years. And, naturally, having studied at Magdalene College, Cambridge, I am inclined towards it.

我覺(jué)得劍橋大學(xué)和牛津大學(xué)都不需要什么介紹，而且兩者之間也并沒(méi)有什么差距。但是，由于劍橋在過(guò)去九年里一直在排行榜上排名第一，而且我本科就讀于劍橋的?Magdalene學(xué)院，所以我比較傾向于劍橋。

Its traditional feel, ethos and renowned colleges and academics are what distinguishes Cambridge from other universities and it was and remains a magical place to study.

2University of Oxford

在英國(guó)，本科申請(qǐng)牛津跟劍橋只能二選一。我妹妹在這里讀本科，后來(lái)碩士去了 UCL 讀神經(jīng)科學(xué)。

Very narrowly behind the University of Cambridge is that of Oxford. Founded around 1096 and so roughly 130 years older than the University of Cambridge, the University of Oxford also has extremely well-known professors and alumni.

牛津只比劍橋差一點(diǎn)。1096年建校，比劍橋還大將近130歲。牛津也因?yàn)樽约旱母鞣N大神教授和校友享譽(yù)世界。

Oxford is a slightly bigger town than Cambridge, so students of this university can perhaps enjoy more entertainment and things to do in the very rare moments when they’re not occupied with university work!

牛津稍微要比劍橋大一些，所以牛津?qū)W生的娛樂(lè)選項(xiàng)和各種活動(dòng)應(yīng)該也比劍橋多。但是這并沒(méi)有啥用，因?yàn)樗麄兠刻鞂W(xué)習(xí)忙成狗，根本沒(méi)時(shí)間！

Oxford therefore also has less of a ‘university town’ feel, though it is still extremely traditional. Some of its courses such as Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) have even gained particular fame.

盡管牛津也是一個(gè)及其傳統(tǒng)范兒的地方，但是它大學(xué)城的感覺(jué)要稍弱一些。他家的PPE（政治、哲學(xué)和經(jīng)濟(jì)）專業(yè)尤其出名。

Choosing between applying to the University of Cambridge or the University of Oxford is a very tough decision, but none the less one that must be made – as it is not possible to apply to both!

3University College London (UCL)

倫敦大學(xué)學(xué)院，學(xué)校很大，很多元，專業(yè)也很多。

With a reputation that has grown in recent
years, UCL is just behind the top two (which remain clearly separate from the
rest) in my list.

UCL近些年來(lái)聲名漸隆，我個(gè)人感覺(jué)是僅次于牛津的學(xué)校。

It is a large and very diverse university
that has nearly 40,000 students and heads a group of London universities that
are all fairly similarly ranked.

UCL規(guī)模很大，有將近4萬(wàn)多名學(xué)術(shù)。它也是倫敦大學(xué)聯(lián)盟的領(lǐng)頭羊。

4Imperial College London

帝國(guó)理工學(xué)院，很棒的工科與醫(yī)科學(xué)校。

Another very highly-rated university,?Imperial is known above all for its courses in science, engineering and
medicine.

Imperial, like many London universities,?has a very high percentage of foreign students and attracts many applicants not
just from outside the UK, but also from outside Europe. Its graduates also
continue to enjoy good employment prospects.

和倫敦的諸多大學(xué)一樣，帝國(guó)理工也有很多外國(guó)學(xué)生，它吸引了很多英國(guó)、甚至歐盟外的申請(qǐng)者。畢業(yè)生就業(yè)能力、口碑都很棒。

5London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE)

我父母的母校，政經(jīng)類專業(yè)很厲害。

In the heart of London, LSE, the university of both of my parents, is, of course, most known for its various economics and politics courses.

The university scores consistently well?according to most rankings of British universities.

6University of St. Andrews

圣安德魯斯大學(xué)，威廉王子和凱特的母校。

Set in the beautiful town of Fife in Scotland, St. Andrews is another very historical university that dates back to 1413.

圣安超級(jí)漂亮、超級(jí)古老、超級(jí)有歷史！

It has also recently become known as the place where two members of the British Royal Family, Prince William and Kate Middleton, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, met.

7University of Durham

與牛劍一樣有學(xué)院制傳統(tǒng)的杜倫大學(xué)。

Another university with a college system,
similar to that of the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge,
the University of Durham consistently scores well in university rankings and is
also in the midst of a very beautiful setting.

8University of Warwick

華威大學(xué)，就業(yè)好，畢業(yè)生的雇主聲譽(yù)很好。

In Coventry, this university also attracts
many foreign students from outside Europe. Its graduates also have a good reputation
with employers.

9University of Edinburgh

愛(ài)丁堡大學(xué)，有挺多著名校友。

This university falls just inside the top ten. It has some very famous alumni, including the author of the Harry Potter books, J.K. Rowling, and two people who have had a profound impact on humankind in Charles Darwin and Alexander Graham Bell.

10University of Bristol

布里斯托大學(xué)，學(xué)校生活很豐富。

Creating a list of top ten UK universities is certainly not easy and many others deserve mentions such as the University of Bath and King’s College London. However, in tenth place, is the University of Bristol on the west coast of England, whose students can enjoy a quite vibrant town and engaging campus life.

硬要做出一個(gè)英國(guó)Top10的列表真的很難，有些學(xué)校，比如巴斯、比如KCL，都值得擁有姓名。但是在我看來(lái)，還是要把第10名給布里斯托！

要說(shuō)的還有皇家音樂(lè)學(xué)院、建筑聯(lián)盟學(xué)院，這些學(xué)校沒(méi)有太多排名，但是也是我們比較青睞的學(xué)校。
