美國本科專業(yè)選擇:小眾專業(yè)

政治學(xué) Political Science

第一個想給大家介紹的專業(yè)就是政治學(xué)(Political Science)。很多學(xué)習(xí)政治學(xué)的美國本科生都是pre-law的學(xué)生。Pre-law指的就是是打算以后去法學(xué)院(Law School)的本科生。因為在美國大學(xué)本科中是沒有法律專業(yè)的，因此就只會有自稱為pre-law的學(xué)生，我們姑且可以把他們翻譯成法律的預(yù)科吧。很多打算去法學(xué)院的學(xué)生都會選擇在大學(xué)的時候?qū)W習(xí)政治學(xué)，因為這個專業(yè)的很多必修課都是和法學(xué)院有所聯(lián)系的。下面是加州洛杉磯分校（UCLA) 政治學(xué)部門的介紹：

The department of Political Science is dedicated to understanding and explaining politics. We offer courses on a range of topics both on domestic and international politics. Students study governance systems, public policies, political behavior and institutional design. Courses use a variety of research methods, both quantitative and qualitative and stress written and oral communication so as to increase the analytic skills of our students. The department prepares students not only to be effective citizens but for a large number of contemporary careers which require analytic thinking and the knowledge of sophisticated research methods.

藝術(shù)史 Art History

第二個比較小眾的專業(yè)是藝術(shù)史(Art History)。我認(rèn)識的一些學(xué)這個專業(yè)的學(xué)生純粹是因為自己對這個專業(yè)喜愛而選擇的這個專業(yè)。對于真正喜歡這個專業(yè)的學(xué)生來說，就業(yè)前景并不窄。藝術(shù)史專業(yè)的畢業(yè)生可以選擇從事美術(shù)教育、美術(shù)研究、文博藝術(shù)管理以及新聞出版類的工作。下面是耶魯大學(xué)（Yale University)藝術(shù)史系的介紹:

The Department of the History of Art at Yale offers a wide range of undergraduate and graduate courses in art, architecture, and visual culture in their social and historical contexts. These courses are not characterized by a single methodological approach, but by a commitment to the firsthand investigation of works of art and to theoretically sophisticated multidisciplinary analysis. The undergraduate curriculum includes courses on Ancient, Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and modern European and American art, in addition to courses on pre-Columbian, African, and Asian art.

電影研究(Film Studies)也是一個在美國眾多本科中因為小眾而脫穎而出的專業(yè)。不過以電影研究畢業(yè)的學(xué)生真正進(jìn)入電影行業(yè)的可能就比較少見了。畢竟大學(xué)所學(xué)習(xí)的知識都是比較大概而基礎(chǔ)，在電影研究中的必修課程也是一個道理，并不會真的教你去怎么拍電影。所以很多電影研究專業(yè)的本科畢業(yè)生會選擇一些相關(guān)的領(lǐng)域去就業(yè)，比如說企業(yè)、公司宣傳部門，或者是一些其他的傳媒行業(yè)。以下是來自于加州大學(xué)伯克利分校電影和媒體研究系的一個介紹：

THE UC BERKELEY DEPARTMENT OF FILM & MEDIA offers innovative, interdisciplinary programs leading to a B.A. in Film and a Ph.D. in Film & Media. It also provides curricular support for the Designated Emphasis in Film Studies for doctoral students in other departments. The Department teaches students to think historically, theoretically, and analytically about film and media within the broad context of humanistic studies. 人類學(xué)(Anthropology)也是一個在美國本地學(xué)生中比較受歡迎的專業(yè)，但是學(xué)習(xí)人類學(xué)的中國留學(xué)生就是少之又少了。就業(yè)前景的方面的話，人類學(xué)專業(yè)的畢業(yè)生可以選擇去非政府組織（NGO)、醫(yī)療領(lǐng)域、市場研究和公共部門。相比于其他的專業(yè)來說，人類學(xué)這一學(xué)科的覆蓋面很廣。下面是芝加哥大學(xué)人類學(xué)的介紹：

The Department of Anthropology at the University of Chicago has a long and proud tradition of scholarly excellence and leadership in the discipline.
