Programme Description

If you have studied computer science before, this course will expand your knowledge and help you acquire further skills across a broader range of computer science topics. If you don’t have a first degree in computer science, this course will still fully prepare you for a successful and rewarding career in the IT sector.

The modules you’ll study will address mobile and cloud computing, big data and database systems, and the importance of information security, in relation to the foundational information systems principles.

Academic Requirements

A minimum of a 2:2 UK honours degree in either Chemistry, Computing, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or an alternative subject related to data analysis, data science or informatics, or a recognised equivalent international qualification. We'll also consider relevant work experience if you don't meet these requirements.

To apply for one of our postgraduate courses that require a UK 2:1, the grade requirement depends on the institution you have studied at in China. Our usual requirement is 75%, 80% or 85% overall.

For courses that require a UK 2:2, you must achieve 70%, 75% or 80% overall, depending on the institution at which you have studied.

If you do not currently meet the level required for your programme, we offer intensive pre-sessional English language courses, designed to take you to the level of English ability and skill required for your studies here. The University of Surrey is also an IELTS test centre.
