The minimum requirement for this course is Academic IELTS 7.0 with no band score less than 6.5.

Ulster recognises a number of other English language tests and comparable IELTS equivalent scores.

Pharmacy MPharm

A levels: AAB, including chemistry and at least one further science A level from biology, maths or physics; the third subject can be chosen from a wide range of subjects, but general studies and critical thinking are not accepted. Plus GCSE maths and English grade 5 or above.

A level requirements
AAB including A-level Chemistry and at least one other A-level from Biology, Mathematics or Physics + GCSE Biology grade C or GCSE Double Award Science grades CC + GCSE Mathematics grade C.

Note: Biology to at least AS preferred. Please note that only one Mathematics subject will be counted at A-level. A-level Critical Thinking and General Studies are not acceptable.

For applicants from England: Where a science has been taken at A level (Chemistry, Biology or Physics), a pass in the Science practical of each subject will be required.

General Studies
Most (see exceptions below) of our non-clinical programmes welcome General Studies as one of three A levels upon which we make an offer. However, applicants may offer only one of General Studies, Critical Thinking, Citizenship Studies among their three A levels.

Applicants should note that General Pharmaceutical Council Fitness to Practise regulations apply to pharmacy students. Offers of a place on the MPharm course are subject to compliance with these regulations and a satisfactory Good Health and Good Character declaration. Home UK students will be required to obtain Protecting Vulnerable Groups clearance. EU or overseas students will need to obtain their country’s equivalent (such as police verification of good conduct) prior to commencing the MPharm at Robert Gordon University.

Entry requirements

A-level: AAA - AAB

Including Biology/Human Biology or Chemistry, plus another science or science-related subject. Critical Thinking and General Studies excluded.

We accept the following science subjects: biology, human biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics. Science- related subjects: geography, PE, psychology, use of maths and statistics.

Applicants taking a Science A-level (in England) will be required to achieve a pass in the practical element in addition to the standard A-level grade requirement.

GCSE: Typically Grade 6 (B) or above at GCSE Maths and Grade 4 (C) or above at GCSE English.

Units: to include three A-levels
Subjects:
A-levels: Chemistry (40 points/grade B) required and at least one of the following: Mathematics, Physics or Biology (40 points/grade B). A minimum of AS Biology at grade C is required when Biology A-level not taken.
GCSE: candidates are normally required to hold five GCSEs subjects grades A*–C (or comparable numeric score under the newly reformed GCSE grading): minimum of five subjects which must include Double Award Science, English Language and Mathematics.
Interview

For this course the selection process normally includes an interview. ?The interviews may be on a one-to-one basis or in a group, and you may be given a task such as participating in a workshop, a short essay, a numeracy test, or a discussion to demonstrate your strengths in addition to any formal entry requirements.
