The BigBang Fair 英國青年科學(xué)獎(jiǎng)
在上周落下帷幕！

來自Surbiton High School的Avye Couloute（Y9）、來自Liverpool Life Sciences UTC的Connie Gray（Y9），分別拿下了英國年度青年工程師、英國年度青年科學(xué)家的最高榮譽(yù)。

參加The BigBang Fair不僅能豐富自己的申請(qǐng)履歷，又能向招生官展現(xiàn)自己對(duì)某一學(xué)科領(lǐng)域的熱情！

今年有哪些優(yōu)秀的英國學(xué)生拿下了榮譽(yù)獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)？他們的研究項(xiàng)目是什么？下面一起來看看吧！

The BigBang獎(jiǎng)項(xiàng)
The Big Bang分為兩個(gè)賽道：科學(xué)、工程

科學(xué)
偏重科研調(diào)研，探索與科學(xué)方法的運(yùn)用等

工程
偏重發(fā)明、設(shè)計(jì)與制造等

兩個(gè)賽道下，根據(jù)參賽者的年級(jí)進(jìn)行劃分，按組別分別評(píng)選出一位冠軍，劃分標(biāo)準(zhǔn)如下
注：如果有跨年級(jí)的成員組隊(duì)，則按照隊(duì)伍中年齡最大的成員確定隊(duì)伍類型。

科學(xué)學(xué)科
英國年度青年科學(xué)家：Connie Gray
研究內(nèi)容：Comparing the structure of the features of birds from different climates and environments to each other

Senior組冠軍：Lucy Coleman（Y13）
研究內(nèi)容：‘Working Healthy’ aimed to redesign the way in which people work from home with a unique design of a weather-proof open-air office. She also won the Intellectual Property Office award for outstanding innovator.

Intermediate組冠軍：Anastasia Herries（Y11）
研究內(nèi)容：Her project titled ‘Essential Oils as Slug Repellents’ was designed to address the need for alternative and eco-friendly slug repellent.

Senior組冠軍：Erin Carr（Y8）
研究內(nèi)容：Erin’s aim was to investigate comparisons between using all senses and the loss of 1, with the hope of finding out how fast the brain adapts.

工程學(xué)科
英國年度青年工程家：Avye Couloute
研究內(nèi)容：Avye impressed the judges with her invention which seeks to improve indoor air quality by monitoring and reacting to CO2 levels. The solution can benefit classrooms, collaborative working spaces, and seated eating areas in the hospitality sector.

Senior組冠軍：Lily-Mai Spinks（Y12）
研究內(nèi)容：Her project titled ‘ISOPOD’.?Lily-Mai made a tent with a concertina design, aiming to provide a user and eco-friendly festival camping alternative.

Intermediate組冠軍：Om Patel（Y11）
研究內(nèi)容：This aims to support people with some walking difficulties with a designed a prototype brace that supports the leg from the knee to the foot and ensures that the person can walk more naturally.

Senior組冠軍：Ryan Stubbs and William Bradshaw（Y8）
研究內(nèi)容：Their project titled ‘ElectroPi’. They created a seed-planting robot, which is designed to plant and water seeds based on soil moisture levels.

The BigBang Fair
英國青年科學(xué)獎(jiǎng)（The?Big?Bang?Fair），由英國政府和200多家科學(xué)、工程界組織聯(lián)合創(chuàng)辦，是面向英國7-13年級(jí)學(xué)生的科學(xué)賽事。

Big Bang計(jì)劃旨在將科學(xué)和工程學(xué)帶入年輕人的生活。參賽者將通過這個(gè)英國“天花板級(jí)”的科學(xué)與工程賽事，鍛煉他們的邏輯思維，挑戰(zhàn)事實(shí)、提出問題并創(chuàng)造解決方案。

1參賽方式
參賽者需在英國學(xué)校就讀
參賽時(shí)，參賽者必須在11-19歲之間，且必須為全日制學(xué)校就讀學(xué)生
參賽者只能單獨(dú)或作為團(tuán)隊(duì)的一員參加一個(gè)項(xiàng)目

2參賽時(shí)間（以2021-22賽季為例）
網(wǎng)上報(bào)名開放：2021年12月6日
網(wǎng)上報(bào)名截止：2022年3月20日
入圍名單公布：2022年4月25日
決賽入圍評(píng)審(線上)：2022年5月9日-5月20日
頒獎(jiǎng)典禮：2022年6月22日

3評(píng)審標(biāo)準(zhǔn)
曾在該賽事中獲獎(jiǎng)的S同學(xué)，15歲已經(jīng)三次參加The Big Bang Fair。

在賽場拿下“年度最佳青年科學(xué)家”后，她受邀參加了BBC Breakfast，后來還在全球醫(yī)療保健公司GSK實(shí)習(xí)。這段實(shí)習(xí)經(jīng)歷對(duì)她的人生都帶來了巨大的改變。

即便已經(jīng)獲獎(jiǎng)，她還是希望能夠繼續(xù)參賽，因?yàn)檫@個(gè)賽場給予了她無限可能。

大學(xué)申請(qǐng)的競爭正在變得越發(fā)激烈，英本美本皆是如此。據(jù)英國大學(xué)申請(qǐng)系統(tǒng)UCAS統(tǒng)計(jì)，2021年提交申請(qǐng)的人數(shù)同比上漲了約12%！

為了從越發(fā)激烈的申請(qǐng)大軍中，挑選出最有發(fā)展?jié)摿Φ膶W(xué)生，英本開始對(duì)申請(qǐng)者的軟實(shí)力有了更高的要求，The BigBang Fair是英國本土學(xué)生不容錯(cuò)過的賽場！
