小林為何會(huì)這么說?要知道在很長(zhǎng)一段時(shí)間里,SAT/ACT都是美國(guó)大學(xué)本科入學(xué)考核評(píng)判最重要的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)之一。
然而,近年來,隨著學(xué)校對(duì)學(xué)生綜合素養(yǎng)的重視,“Test Optional”的方式已經(jīng)被越來越廣泛地接受。再加上疫情影響,眾多學(xué)校不約而同地做出了取消標(biāo)化成績(jī)的決定。
每所學(xué)校,都在試圖向我們傳達(dá)同樣的中心思想:個(gè)人的整體表現(xiàn)與綜合能力,才是最根本的評(píng)判依據(jù)。
那么,如何向?qū)W校展現(xiàn)你的綜合能力?
答案很明確:文書。
? 文書與補(bǔ)充文書??
眾所周知申請(qǐng)美國(guó)大學(xué)時(shí),除了要提交通常一篇個(gè)人陳述文章(Personal Statement 簡(jiǎn)稱PS)即Common Application系統(tǒng)里面的主文書外,美國(guó)各大高校通常還會(huì)有自己的補(bǔ)充文書題目,比如芝加哥大學(xué)、達(dá)特茅斯、圣母大學(xué)、密歇根大學(xué)、波士頓學(xué)院等等。
那么補(bǔ)充文書與主文書又存在著哪些的不同呢?
◾字?jǐn)?shù)要求:補(bǔ)充文書要求字?jǐn)?shù)偏少,一般在150-250字之間,最多不超過500字。
◾主題要求:與主文書確定的6個(gè)題目相比較,補(bǔ)充文書更加多元化,形式更加豐富,提問的范圍更加大。
◾結(jié)合院校:補(bǔ)充文書的題目很多是需要申請(qǐng)者提供申請(qǐng)?jiān)撔5脑颉⒆约簽槭裁催x擇此專業(yè)、做過什么相關(guān)活動(dòng)或?qū)嵙?xí)等等題目,需將自己和申請(qǐng)?jiān)盒5奶攸c(diǎn)有機(jī)的結(jié)合在一起來寫。
補(bǔ)充文書要求的字?jǐn)?shù)比主文書要少很多,其實(shí)越是簡(jiǎn)短,越考驗(yàn)申請(qǐng)者的思維能力和寫作能力。而且越是排名靠前的常春藤學(xué)校,補(bǔ)充文書數(shù)量越多,甚至還有些學(xué)校,喜歡出偏題、怪題,無厘頭讓人抓狂。

#1:Why Eassy
這類是補(bǔ)充文書中最為常見的一種,從“Why”這個(gè)詞中我們就能大概猜出這類文書大致要寫什么。基本就是“為什么申請(qǐng)這所學(xué)校?”“為什么選擇這個(gè)專業(yè)?”......而這類補(bǔ)充文書,招生官主要是想要了解學(xué)生是否真正喜歡這所學(xué)校,是否與學(xué)校的風(fēng)格契合等。
“Why”類補(bǔ)充文書書寫技巧,分為【文書書寫四步驟】和【靈魂四大關(guān)鍵詞】。準(zhǔn)備書寫四步驟為:

了解自己:通過頭腦風(fēng)暴或自我反思在一定程度上了解了自己,知道自己的性格特點(diǎn)以及優(yōu)勢(shì);

通過這類補(bǔ)充文書,學(xué)校可以從側(cè)面了解到申請(qǐng)者是否與學(xué)校具有契合度,是否真的可以在這里得到他們希望得到的東西,學(xué)校是否可以幫助學(xué)生完成夢(mèng)想......
無論是書寫哪一類補(bǔ)充文書,有以下幾條tips,大家在寫文書的時(shí)候需要注意:
1.任何寫作都要有亮點(diǎn)和主線,并且要和自身相關(guān);
2.千萬別忘了寫出自己喜愛學(xué)校,選擇這里的理由;
3.盡量不要提及大學(xué)的地位及排名情況;
4.最好別提及大學(xué)的創(chuàng)始人或人文歷史之類話題;
5.誠(chéng)信為本,沒有的盡量不要瞎編。
