Sometimes in the midst of an extensive college search, you find your dream school by total accident.Graduating from Shanghai American School’sPudongcampus this year,Adeena Liangis then headed toPomona College.

你是如何決定就讀波莫納學(xué)院的？

IwasmainlythereforaDisneylandtripwithmyfriends,andneededanexcuseformyparentstoletmegotoLAforaweek!

在前往洛杉磯參觀各個(gè)大學(xué)之前，我并不知道波莫納學(xué)院。我主要是想跟朋友一起去迪士尼樂園玩，需要找一個(gè)借口，好讓我爸媽允許我在洛杉磯呆上一周的時(shí)間。

Then from the tour I saw that the campus is really pretty (the weather was amazing as well).

That, combined with information sessions about academics, I found I really liked the vibe of the school.

It's a really small school, which is what I was looking for,

and it is one of the most diverse colleges in the US (which now that I think about it, is really similar to SAS).

Once I decided to apply, I felt like it was the right choice.

在參觀大學(xué)的過程中，我發(fā)現(xiàn)波莫納學(xué)院的校園非常漂亮（氣候也非常怡人）。聽了關(guān)于波莫納學(xué)院教學(xué)方面的介紹后，我非常喜歡這所學(xué)校的氛圍。這是一所非常小的學(xué)校，正是我所期望的。波莫納學(xué)院是美國最具多元化的大學(xué)之一（現(xiàn)在想想，這一點(diǎn)跟上海美國學(xué)校真的很像）。當(dāng)我提交申請(qǐng)后，我感覺自己做出了正確的選擇。

在搜索大學(xué)的過程中最好和最壞的一點(diǎn)分別是什么？

The worst part about the college search process is that there are just so many options.

There are bigor small schools, schools in cities, suburbs,

or middle-of-nowhere towns. There are schools that are STEM-based and schools that really value sports or extracurriculars.

The hard part is figuring out what you want in the colleges you're applying to.

大學(xué)搜索過程最壞的一點(diǎn)就是選擇太多了。大學(xué)有大有小，有的在市區(qū)，有的在郊區(qū)，有的在偏遠(yuǎn)的小鎮(zhèn)上。有的大學(xué)側(cè)重STEM（科學(xué)、技術(shù)、工程、數(shù)學(xué)），有的大學(xué)側(cè)重體育運(yùn)動(dòng)或課外活動(dòng)。最難的就是弄清楚你希望在自己申請(qǐng)的大學(xué)里學(xué)到什么。

The best part about the college search process is finding schools (and its student populations) that you really vibe with.

Once you find schools that really fit you, everything gets so much more exciting,

because you know that there are people out there with similar interests and hobbies and passions.

大學(xué)搜索過程最好的一點(diǎn)就是找到自己真正能夠產(chǎn)生共鳴的大學(xué)（和同學(xué)）。一旦找到了真正適合自己的大學(xué)，一切都會(huì)變得更加令人興奮，因?yàn)槟阒烙腥伺c自己志趣相投。

你計(jì)劃修讀什么專業(yè)？

實(shí)際上我還沒決定。我正在考慮修讀環(huán)境分析專業(yè)。我是上海美國學(xué)校“根與芽”項(xiàng)目的一員，我非常喜歡這個(gè)項(xiàng)目。我們?cè)诨▔镞M(jìn)行有機(jī)園藝，發(fā)起了一個(gè)堆肥項(xiàng)目，把餐廳的食物殘?jiān)瞥啥逊剩糜诟纳莆覀兊膱@藝土壤。

Doyoufeelreadyforcollege?Whyorwhynot?

I feel like I'm ready. The SAS alumni I've talked to have all told me that SAS prepares its students really well for college. According to them, college is going to be harder than high school, but nothing that's not manageable. Also, I'm ready to go to college because I feel like I can further pursue my passions there. Whether it's doing more service work, continuing composting and gardening on campus but on a much larger scale, or even participating in student council again, I'm ready to do that.

你認(rèn)為自己為上大學(xué)做好準(zhǔn)備了嗎？為什么這么認(rèn)為？

我認(rèn)為自己做好了準(zhǔn)備。我接觸到的上海美國學(xué)校校友都告訴我說，上海美國學(xué)校能夠讓學(xué)生為大學(xué)做好充足的準(zhǔn)備。據(jù)他們說，大學(xué)要比高中困難，但沒有什么是應(yīng)付不了的。此外，我期待去上大學(xué)，因?yàn)槲腋杏X自己能夠在大學(xué)里進(jìn)一步追逐自己的夢(mèng)想。不論是從事更多服務(wù)工作，在校園里以更大的規(guī)模繼續(xù)實(shí)施堆肥和園藝項(xiàng)目，還是再一次加入學(xué)生會(huì)，我都做好了準(zhǔn)備。

有沒有什么是你非常期待的？

我期待很多事情。例如，波莫納學(xué)院有一個(gè)非常炫酷的項(xiàng)目：校園里有一個(gè)特別的食堂，在那個(gè)食堂里不準(zhǔn)說英語。我目前在說中文，但我想學(xué)西班牙語。波莫納學(xué)院地處加利福尼亞南部地區(qū)，因此西班牙語將會(huì)非常有用。
